Greenlink Allotment Project

Allotment members planting their first seedlings

The aim of this project is to provide an area to grow fresh, local organic fruit and vegetables, a site where local residents, schools and community groups can share, learn and enjoy the experience of growing their own produce.

The site includes 33 individual plots, 7 plots for community groups.

The fantastic news is that North Lanarkshire Council are now the major funders of the Project. Both Scottish Natural Heritage and North Lanarkshire Council funded the construction of the site. SNH have also funded activities and events on the site.

The allotment site is based in the Forgewood area of Motherwell,on the corner of Fife Drive and Kinloch Drive, adjacent to the Greenlink cycleway.

Registration for plots has taken place over the last three years. As a result we now have a small waiting list for plots. If you are an individual or a community group interested in a plot, please telephone our secretary at 07892649810 or email   We are especially keen to hear from people from the Forgewood area.

A huge thank you goes out to young people from the Skillforce Princes Award team. They worked incredibly hard at our Springfest event in March 2014. Creating a disbaled access raised bed and shifting tonnes of compost really puchsed the project on.

The Scotrail Foundation  Community Grants programme has awarded the Greenlink Allotment Group just over £4000. This vital funding means that a polytunnell, training and a tool stroage shed can now be purchased.
